Tree Planting

Why Plant a Tree?
Here is a list of some reasons people have chosen to have us plant a tree for them:
  • Memorial tree to remember a loved one
  • Privacy/screening from neighbors
  • Noise reduction (example: to block the sound of cars from a nearby road)
  • Provide shade for a people, plants, and/or animals
  • Aesthetics
  • Present for a loved one
  • Restoring a habitat
  • Erosion control/protection from flooding
  • Wildlife forage (example: provide a habitat for birds and butterflies)
  • Receive fruit from the tree
  • Increase property value

Native Trees vs Non-Native Trees

When you introduce non-native trees to your land, they will typically not take to the land independently and need assistance to maintain their health as they develop and grow.
When you introduce a native tree there are many benefits, including:
  • Less maintenance: If you plant a Texas native tree you will have significantly less need for maintenance because the tree was meant to grow in Texas climate.
  • Better for the environment: When you add native trees you help ensure the longevity of the local urban canopy.
  • Safer in extreme weather: Texas native plants are meant to withstand the elements of Texas, which we all know can be unpredictable at times. A Texas native tree will have a significantly higher chance of making it through a storm than a non-native tree.
